Nikolay Kuzovlev, Giprotyumenneftegaz Engineer, won the 3rd place in the 4th stage of the Ice Climbing World Cup 2013

The 4th stage of the Ice Climbing World Cup 2013 took place in Busteni, Romania on 7 - 9 February, 2013. The competitions were divided into 2 disciplines: Speed and Lead. Nikolay Kuzovlev, our Tyumen sportsman and our GTNG Engineer, won the 3rd place in the Lead.

Korean ice climber Park Heeyong is in the lead for the overall World Cup, ahead of the closest rival Maxim Tomilov from Kirov who placed second. Nikolay Kuzovlev proved the similar result as Tomilov, although slightly slower in the semi-final, so placed third.

Our sportsmen dominated in the Speed event: they took all three podium positions in the competitions both men’s and women’s. Russia’s Pavel Batushev , Kemerovo, set a new world record in a mere 07:77 seconds and took the lead. His teammates: Ivan Spitsyn was the second and Pavel Gulyaev was the third. Nikolay Kuzovlev came in a good fourth. The women’s event was again dominated by the Russians – and the three positions were taken by Maryam Filippova, Ekaterina Feoktistova and Ekaterina Glazunova.
